2011-05-10 Bris kompisar Life is full of surprises, you just have to be open for them and dare to try new things when you get the chance! The other day Tommy came up with the great offer that I could borrow his sledgedogs and continue my trip with the sledge instead of skiing. I have only used a sledge and dogs a couple of times before, so it would be a great adventure! Last night/this morning six dogs, sledge etc arrived. Today the weather improved lots and it was time to practice, to see if I could handle the dogs and that the leader dog listened to me. First we tried eight dogs, including Ronja and Bris, and a big sledge. After that I tried with six dogs and a smaller sledge. I felt more comfortable with that, could handle it better and had more control. The afternoon was brilliant, blue sky, less and less wind, me on the fjordice practicing left-right and watcing the seals disappear under the ice when we came too close.
It was like a beautiful dream, being in the arctic, doing something that always have appealed to me but haven't done and finding out that I'm loving it! After today's practice the decision was made; I will continue the trip south together with six dogs!
