2011-04-27 Whiteout
When i got out of the tent today it was like walking into a white wall. Whiteout, so thick and not giving any hint of direction, up or down or anything. It was just so white!
We started skiing , quite often I had to check our position with the GPS, then the map and compass for direction and the whole time using the compass to keep direction, not drifting off in some way. It was time consuming and tiring when I couldn't relax for one moment. The dogs were as confused as I in the whiteness.
In the afternoon it started to go down from 1100 meter above sea, at 800 we left the glacier and finally started to see something. We stopped for the night at 150 meters height, now looking down on a white, frozen Wijdefjord.
