The nights have been cold sharply recently, the thermometer inside the tent is often -20 at night, but we melt quickly when the sun begins to warm in the morning. To the east is only ice and water, so nothing prevents the sun's rays. Try to place the tent for maximum sun, preferably with a long side facing southeast.
Maybe goes a little easier north, sleds will not stick as easily as the northern wind built up snow ramps behind everything that sticks up on the ice. We also found a much better way past a pressure ice area. Mountain fox trails crisscross over the ice. In the distance I saw a fox quickly scurry away from the piles of pressure ice when it saw us. Even polar bears traces here and there but no new since the other day. Polar bears are especially along the east coast of Spitsbergen, now, they are probably further out in the pack ice, which we here can see open water, and sneaking up on seals. Or, they are ambushed and spying on us but think that the little man smells too bad.
Markhambreen is an impressive sight, completely permeated by cracks and the front rises high, high above the sea ice in the huge pillars that will roar into the sea as, Weather: sun, -15/-25, quiet

2013-04-10 Team Meeting
Yesterday took hard especially on Niaks legs showing a bunch of hairless areas after the sharp ice and snow, luckily no open wounds. Even Ronjas legs have got some scratches but thanks to her thick fur fared better. My ski boots are to share in front of your toes and the skis came loose any plastic detail isskravlet yesterday. It got to be a morning meeting about how we would do, Ronia put her voice and went out to scout bear and enjoy the views in the biting cold little wind. Niak was tired and slept on. I came to the conclusion that the ice did not look like it will be more easy to travel as far as you could see, and to continue to rip as we did yesterday minimal enjoyment and maximum risk of injury and frustration. So Sörneset are we doing well without, every meter closer we get we have to go back the same way because they spickfyllda glaciers here in the south. We turn north and investing instead!
The afternoon turned sleds direction, we took a short step for the tired and sore feet. From this direction appeared traces of a polar bear riding a slide down a steep moraine slope and later clear bear tracks disappearing up over Staupbreen.
As soon as the sun disappears behind the mountain peaks to the west takes over the cold and the inside of the tent dressed in a frozen layer condensation.
